Stags is the investment holding company of Philippe Louis-Dreyfus and his family.

OUR HISTORY


Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) was originally the maritime branch of the Louis Dreyfus Group, a French family company founded in 1851 by Léopold Louis-Dreyfus, the same year that wheat trading began in Alsace. The Group went on to diversify over time into the energy, banking, telecom and real-estate sectors.

Today, LDA is a major player in dry bulk transport and logistics, as well as areas as diverse as marine engineering, submarine cable laying and repair, heavy-duty package transport and offshore wind turbine maintenance.

Thanks to this strategic diversification, which began in the late 1990s, and the reputation enjoyed by the French flag, LDA has been able to offer its customers customized maritime industrial solutions.

In 2007, as part of a reorganization of the Louis Dreyfus Group’s family shareholding structure, Philippe Louis-Dreyfus and his children took over 100% of LDA, the group’s maritime branch, while retaining a minority stake in Louis-Dreyfus commodities.

This led to the creation of the investment holding company Stags, which started to invest in Private Equity in April 2011.
